Keyboarding |
![]() |
Using the keyboard is a basic skill for students and workers. At Green River Community College, you can learn about keyboarding in two ways.
First, learn the vocabulary of the keyboard. Complete the exercises and give them to your teacher.
Secondly, you can practice typing in the following ways.
If you are a student in ESL 055, you can use two programs: Type to Learn or Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. These programs are on all of our computers and you can complete the activities. There is also a checklist to complete.
If you are a GRCC student, you can go to the Academic Resource Center in the Holman Library. The computers there have the same typing programs that are in the classroom. Practice your typing any time the library is open.
If you are studying over the Internet, try some of these links to practice typing.
Take a typing test on line. When you are done, you can print the result or email the results to your teacher.
Enjoy a falling letters game. Please be patient. It takes some time for the program to load.
Try On-line Typing with Typing Pal. Be careful. Don't log in unless you want to receive emails and possibly buy a membership.
Search for yourself: Here's a link to a search for free online typing programs. Spend some time to check them out. Then you can show other students what your have learned.
If you have suggestions that should be included on this page, please email me at javery@greenriver.edu and I'll add them to this list.
