My name is Mark Millbauer and I am the Instructor of Green River's college level Auto Body Technology program.I want to assure you that although I am passionate about my job as a college instructor, I pride myself on being a quality, dedicated technician and will always be loyal to the collision repair industry.
Like a lot young folks who love cars, I have been working on vehicles of one kind or another before I could legally drive. Although I enjoy mechanical work and pride myself on being a fairly competent back-yard mechanic, I somehow gravitated towards the auto body side of the industry in high school and then went on to graduate in 1975 from the Auto Body program at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA. Since then, I have been employed in most every facet of the collision repair industry. In 1993 I was hired by Green River to teach and coordinate the Auto Body program.
For the past twenty years or so, I have had the good fortune to work for several quality collision shops, both dealer and independent. Those experiences have provided me the opportunity to work with, and learn from some of the best technicians in the State. I am a Master Certified ASE technician, and have participated in several I-CAR classes. Additionally, I am an I-CAR certified welder and an I-CAR weld certification test administrator. Although I am experienced with numerous types and brands of paint, I am a certified PPG painter and continue to up-grade those certifications.
As an instructor, I regularly attend numerous industry and educational conferences, which help me stay abreast of the latest developments in the education of collision repair. I am also an Evaluation Team Leader for NATEF and help coordinate the evaluation process for other auto body training programs in the Northwest seeking their certification. Those experiences have provided me with a vast and well rounded understanding of the industry. It is my hope that as an instructor I can pass the benefits of those experiences on to my students.
I am proud of our Auto Body Technology program and the accomplishments of our graduates. Furthermore, I believe that in order to be successful in life, as well as in the ever changing field of auto repair, one must be a life long learner who greets change with open arms. I strive to live up to that philosophy by staying updated on current repair procedures, educational trends, and by returning to the industry as often as possible.
