HIV transmission.

HIV infection is spread through exposure to semen and vaginal fluid from unprotected sex /without condom/ or through exposure to blood from drug use. HIV can also be transmitted from mother to child through birth or by breast-feeding

HIV enters a person’s body through the lining of the rectum, the walls of the vagina, through direct contact with the blood stream, or more rarely, through the inside mouth and throat.

The virus cannot enter through the skin unless the skin is broken or cut.

There is absolutely no danger from casual contact with people with HIV.

Blood transfusions and medical procedures in the U.S. are safe. This information is from: www.gmhc.org/basics/hiv/transmition.html
