My Story

My name is Sviatlana. I was born in Belarus, which is a beautiful country with deep historical roots and traditions. For example there is an Orthodox Church from 1167 in my country and it is still in use. I came to the USA in Jan. 2002. I live in Auburn in my own house. My husband and I planted a small vegetable garden last spring.  During the summer we had a lot of tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbages and peppers.  I like to be out in nature.  Also I like to read American magazines, to learn new words in English, to knit, to play with my cat, to play piano, and to listen to good music.  Actually music is a part of my life because it is my profession.  In my country I studied for 17 years to get my profession.  From my childhood I attended two schools at the same time.  Later I graduated from the College of Music, and the Academy of Music [the highest level of music education], where I received my Masters degree as a teacher of piano, and performance.  Also I traveled for 10 years all over Europe with the tours as a member of the “Garodna” Chamber Choir.  We were performing Catholic and Orthodox religious music.  We toured Holland, England, Germany, Poland, and Spain.  It was a wonderful experience.

I have a special goal to improve my English in order to find a professional job in America.  I want to share my experience and my knowledge with Americans because music as an international language hasn’t the borders of misunderstanding.
