My Story

My name is Hyesaeng Cho I’m from South Korea. I’ve been in the United States for about two years. I live in Auburn with my family, husband and two daughters. My husband has been studying about Accounting in Renton Technical College. He is going to graduate from school in June this year. My daughters are in the 9th grade and 7th grade. My older daughter is good at playing the piano and flute. She is interested in everything. My younger daughter loves to draw pictures. I think that they have adjusted well in their school, where they try their best. My family’s English are not so good yet but we can speak Korean and Japanese. We have been in Japan for about seven years because my husband transferred to the Tokyo and Osaka offices.

At the first time I got here, I was afraid of meeting people who speak only English because they speak it very fast with linking and accent. So I didn’t go out anywhere for almost two months. Before long I realized that there are Korean markets, hospitals, churches or something in Federal Way, Tacoma and Aurora. But I worried about my life in the United States before I came here. It was very difficult for me to decide that I leave my country, but my husband wanted my children to have various opportunities and experiences. Now I felt better because I get a chance to study English in Green River Community College and I have lots of friends who are different countries. If I can afford the time, I want to learn an oil painting more and volunteer in the future. (If I can speak English fluently)

I wish to express gratitude to the U.S.A.
