Mirka from Germany

Hi! My name is Mirka Meredith.

I was born in Poland. When I was a child my parents resettled to Nuernberg, Germany. My nationality is German, because my grandparents were German. I grew up and went to school in Germany. After I finished the office management school, I worked as an office manager for a media and marketing research company. I liked working in an office and would like to find a job in this occupation in the U.S.A.

I never really wanted move to the U.S.A. because I liked living in Germany. But I met an American in Germany, my husband. He was in the Army and stationed in Germany. At first, he wanted to stay in Germany, but after a while he wanted to go back to Washington, where he is from. So I moved with him in September 1999 to Kent, WA.

Right now I am going to Green River Community College and I am trying to improve my English. Even though I have already been 6 months in the U.S.A., I don’t know if I want to stay here. I still think that living in Germany is easier and I miss Germany a lot, especially my family and friends. Nuernberg is a very beautiful old city and it is famous for the "Nuernberger Bratwurst", those are sausages. There is also a lot of other foods I miss very much and of course the German beer.
