ProQuest is
a computer database with articles from over 2000 newspapers and magazines. ProQuest is
available through the Internet to all students at
1. Start “Internet Explorer.” This will take you to the library home page.
2. Look for the words “Research Databases” on the library home page.
(Look under “Research Tools.”)
3. Click on “Research Databases.”
4. Look for the words “ProQuest
Research Databases” on the “Research Databases List” page.
5. Click on “ProQuest
Research Databases.” This will take
you to the ProQuest Basic Search page.
6. Look for the words Full text documents only on the Basic Search page. Click in the box next to Full text documents only to make a
“check-mark.”
7. Click in the line under the words “Basic Search.” A cursor
will appear at the left end of the line.
8. Type your topic in the line under the words “Basic Search.” (Your
topic will be the name of the country in which you were born.)
9. Click on the yellow Search button. This will “retrieve” the “Results”
list.
10. The “Results” page is a list of articles
from magazines and newspapers. Each item
in the list includes the title, the author, the source
(the name of the magazine or newspaper), and the date of the
article.
11. The titles of the articles are
underlined and displayed in blue. Look
for your topic (the name of your birth country) in one of the titles.
12. Click on this title. This will display the text of the article.
13. Click on the Print icon at the top of
the screen to print the text of the article.
