This is the model to follow for Worksheet II on word processing. Check your paper with this model.

These worksheets will help you to learn how to use word processing.
You will have to type and format text. Please follow all the directions carefully.

Directions: If you are in the ESL 055 class, your teacher will copy this file to your disk. Then you can open it directly on your computer and work on it. If you are not in the class, you will have to type the paragraph in WORD or another word processing program. Follow the directions at the bottom of the page. If you click on the link at bottom, you can see the finished version of this worksheet. Use it to compare with your own to make sure you have the completed the worksheet correctly.

Word Processing Exercise #2

This exercise will help you to learn how to use these keys and functions: backspace, delete, underline, return, left justify, center, right justify, change font size, save, print.

  1. Delete the extra word in the heading WordProcessingProcessingExercise#2.
  2. Take the underline off of Word Processing Exercise #2 at the top of the page.
  3. Put space between the words ‘Word,’ ‘Processing,’  ‘Exercise,’ and '#2.'
  4. Put an extra return at the end of the heading Word Processing Exercise # 2 and take one out after direction #1.
  5. Select the heading, change the font size to 18, make it bold, and center it.
  6. Use the right arrow and delete keys to make this math correct: 12 + 12 = 24.
  7. Change the font size to 12 and double-space the following text:
    The purpose of this lesson is to teach students how to use the word processing program to write on the computer. Students start with the basics of typing. They learn how to change the text so it looks better. These changes are called formatting. Students also learn some of the very useful tools, such as spell check. This will help their writing to have fewer errors and look great. 

  8. Make the following text left justified.
  9. After students learn the basics of word processing, they can them do some very interesting things. They can make a list with bullets or make a numbered list. After they learn these sorts of skills, they are asked to write by using the word processing. They are asked to write letters and a resume. A resume is a document used to apply for jobs. 

  10. Make the following text full justified.
  11. The skills students learn with word processing are also useful with other programs, For example, students learn how to move around the screen. They learn how to use the mouse and the directional keys. They also learn how to save, close, and open files. Additionally, many of the functions are the same, such as cutting, copying, and pasting. These functions can be used in Excel, PowerPoint, and Front Page to create other kinds of products with the computer. 

  12. Type your name at the top of this page and make it right justified.
  13. Check your document using Print Preview to see if it will fit on one page. You may have to delete some returns if it is more than a page.
  14. Save this file on your disk, print a copy of the finished exercise, and close the document.
