The purpose of this lesson is to teach students how to use
the word processing program to write on the computer. Students start with
the basics of typing. They learn how to change the text so it looks better.
These changes are called formatting. Students also learn some of the very
useful tools, such as spell check. This will help their writing to have
fewer errors and look great.
After students learn the basics of word processing, they can them do some very interesting things. They can make a list with bullets or make a numbered list. After they learn these sorts of skills, they are asked to write by using the word processing. They are asked to write letters and a resume. A resume is a document used to apply for jobs.
The skills students learn with word processing are also useful with other programs, For example, students learn how to move around the screen. They learn how to use the mouse and the directional keys. They also learn how to save, close, and open files. Additionally, many of the functions are the same, such as cutting, copying, and pasting. These functions can be used in Excel, PowerPoint, and Front Page to create other kinds of products with the computer.
