| The tower or main part of the computer. It
contains the drives, the cpu or the "thinking" part of the
computer. |
The printer. The printer makes a paper copy of what is on your
computer. Some printers are in black and white and others are in color. |
The scanner. We use the scanner to take pictures
to put them into the computer. You can use images in a story, and in
email. |
| The CD drive. CD's contain many programs, such
as Inform and Encarta. You cannot save to the CD drive. |
The monitor. It is like a television, but it
doesn't usually show TV signals. It shows us what is in the computer
and on the web. |
The Zip drive. Use the Zip drive
to save very
large files. |
| The floppy disk drive. Use it to
save smaller files such as word processing files. You will have a floppy to keep in your folder for the whole
quarter. Be very careful in how you use a floppy. |
The mouse. The computer mouse is used to move
the cursor around on the monitor and helps you to move around
programs. This mouse
has three buttons and a wheel to make actions faster. |
The keyboard. This is the part like a
typewriter. It lets you put (or input) words, and numbers into the
computer. |
