The tower or main part of the computer. It contains the drives, the cpu or the "thinking" part of the computer. The printer. The printer makes a paper copy of what is on your computer. Some printers are in black and white and others are in color. The scanner. We use the scanner to take pictures to put them into the computer.  You can use images in a story, and in email.
The CD drive. CD's contain many programs, such as Inform and Encarta. You cannot save to the CD drive. The monitor. It is like a television, but it doesn't usually show TV signals. It shows us what is in the computer and on the web. The Zip drive. Use the Zip drive  to save very large files.
The floppy disk drive. Use it to save smaller files such as word processing files. You will have a floppy to keep in your folder for the whole quarter. Be very careful in how you use a floppy. The mouse. The computer mouse is used to move the cursor around on the monitor and helps you to move around programs.  This mouse has three buttons and a wheel to make actions faster. The keyboard. This is the part like a typewriter. It lets you put (or input) words, and numbers into the computer.
