A student asked what is Slam Poetry. This is a type of contest: people get up and quickly recite their poetry, then the group votes on the poetry.

MORE WORDS FROM A POLITICAL POINT OF VIEW:
The Hispanic population in our country is growing rapidly. We need to be aware of this. Two types of societies exist: Patriarchal/matriarchal society.
We are a patriarchal society – male dominated
Businesses, money, jobs are unequally distributed.
Woman, people of other religions (such as Muslims) want to be treated equally.

Brief synopsis of the beginnings of our country: People left England because they wanted freedom of expression of religion; they left the Church of England to live in tolerance and freedom of religion.

In our country, we have the far right, which has an extremely conservative approach to the Christian religion. In some cases, those in a minority find themselves in an unequal position. We, as citizens of this country, need to find a way to get along with the powerful, until we no longer are unequal.

Some thoughts about school: Students should be going to school for free. Why does it cost so much to get an education? When there is a take-over of a country, the attackers go after the educators of the countries because the educators challenge the thinking of the country.

Listen: Radio stations: 570 AM and 770 AM. These stations are conservative and challenge people who are progressive.  1090 AM is a progressive radio station and  – challenges people who are conservative. Listen to an hour of these programs and write a summary of what you hear.
