![]() DACUM Research Chart for GIS TechnicianDACUM stands for “Developing a Curriculum”. A DACUM is a one day workshop from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM that brings together a focus group of experts, technicians, and specialists in a specific field or occupation for a brainstorming session. Participants produce a chart from the DACUM workshop that lists the tasks performed by an entry-level worker in the occupation similar to what is in the book of knowledge. A curriculum designer can then use the DACUM chart to develop a curriculum to meet the industry demand. GRCC used the same procedure to develop a DACUM research chart for GIS technicians as an attempt to ensure that our curriculum includes up-to-date technology to meet the GIS industry demand. The workshop was held at GRCC on June 12th, 2007. Click on the link below to open the GRCC GIS DACUM Research Chart. On behalf of GRCC, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the panel and facilitators for their time and effort as well as their excellent work in putting together the chart: DACUM Panel:
