Multicultural: 1946 - 2004

You need to do nine things:

Read Stuart Macintyre A Concise History of Australia Chapter 8

Click on this link to go to the Macintyre Study Guide for Chapter 8

Read the Chapter "Past" in The Little Aussie Fact Book, read the section on Western Australia; and read the section on Tasmania.

 




2. Visit the "Populate or Perish" web site of The John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library

Browse through the page and learn about "Populate or Perish."  Also explore the rest of the site for information about Australia's home front during and after the war. Then develop a short summary of what you discovered and be prepared to discuss it in class.

Browse through the site and find out about Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War.  Then develop a short summary of why you think Australia was involved in Vietnam and be prepared to discuss it in class.

5. Visit The Department of Immigration & Multicultural & Indigenous Affairs "Abolition of the 'White Australia' Policy" web site at:

Browse through the site and discover what the 'White Australia' Policy was and why it ended.

Then develop a short summary of what you discovered and be prepared to discuss it in class.
