Homework Assignments
Process
You are to complete the Chemistry& 161 homework assignments as follows:
- Work in groups of 3–5 people
- Come to agreement on the best solution/answer to each problem
- Submit one paper with your best solution for each problem
- Upon return of the homework meet to discuss any incorrect answers and make sure that everyone understands the correct solutions
All students in a group will receive the same grade.
It is up to you to form (and reform) groups as you wish; you are in charge of your group’s membership. It is also up to you how your group will function. Some people like to work individually and then come together to discuss the best answer. Others like to work together from the beginning.
Intended Outcomes
This process is intended to:
- Foster the formation of study groups within the class
- Develop your skills working in groups
- Result in teaching peer–to–peer
- Foster the development of responsibility for the learning of others as well as your own
- Enhance your learning by helping others
- Make learning an ongoing and systematic process
- Help catch and reduce the number of simple mistakes people tend to make when working on their own
- Surface significant issues/difficulties within groups that can then be brought to the full class for discussion and clarification before the due date for the assignment
- Enhance the quality of homework submitted
