The Mission of the Carpentry Technology Program
The Carpentry Technology Program provides community learners with quality, up-to-date training that leads to an Applied Arts and Science Degree in Carpentry Technology or training for specific carpentry related skills.
Students receive outcome-oriented, performance based curricular offered in individual and group learning environments designed to meet the needs of all learners. The program utilizes the latest techniques and materials being used in the residential building industry. In addition, all faculty continually strive to keep their skills and knowledge of the industry up-to-date.
The main end result for a community learner who completes this program, will be their ability to gain entry level into the building industry with a wide variety of experiences that can be applied to many different job descriptions.
In the Building Code Class you will learn how to navigate and interpret the different code sections as it pertains to the weekly assignments. You will also get an understanding how Municipals use the codes to review drawings and how field inspectors use the codes during inspections.
