Melissa Porras-Monroe, OTR/L
Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
Melissa has been teaching as an adjunct and has been the interim Academic Fieldwork Educator since January 2013. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii she attended and graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Prior to joining the OTA program, Melissa worked for the University of Puget Sound assisting the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and as a Clinical Instructor for the Adult onsite clinic. She worked at Harborview Medical Center for 20 years, which provided her with a wide range of clinical and management experience. Her specialty areas are student supervision, management and she has a strong interest in Neurology and Geriatrics. She also has experience with inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient and long term care. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Lisa Finnsson

Lisa Finnsson, OTR/L
Lisa began teaching as an adjunct faculty member in Fall of 2011 and was offered a full-time, tenured faculty position in Fall of 2012. She has a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Speech & Hearing Sciences graduating from University of California at Santa Barbara in 1987. While taking a year off of school before pursuing her Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, she discovered occupational therapy while working as a program assistant in the Rehabilitation Department at Harborview Medical Center and quickly changed courses. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Washington in 1994 and has spent her career working primarily with the adult physical disabilities population in both acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings. She continues to work as an occupational therapist at a local hospital. Her specialty areas include geriatrics, inpatient rehabilitation and acute care services with particular interest in orthopedics and intensive care. Lisa passed her certification exam toward becoming a board-certified gerontology specialist. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, reading and traveling.

Roberta Kim

Roberta Kim, MAEd, OTR/L
Program Director
Roberta graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has clinical experience as an occupational therapist and has worked with infants through young adults who have had physical, cognitive and/or sensory deficits. In addition, Roberta has a Masters of Arts Degree in Education and has direct teaching experience which includes curriculum planning and implementing lessons and assessments that are based on state and national educational standards. Roberta has provided trainings for educators, therapists, skills trainers, assistants, and other health care professionals. She has also presented at international and local conferences. Administrative experience includes program development, managing program budgets and grant implementation. Roberta enjoys working with and mentoring faculty and students.
