Our events aim to provide on-going support to college and high school math faculty and timely outreach to parents and students in partner school districts.

The 4th Annual Parent/Student Math Advisory Night, which includes the online college math placement assessment will be held  February 2010. If you are interested in attending next year, please make a note that registration will begin on November 16, 2009.

Here are a few events that Project TIME has hosted over the past few months.

June 25 – 27, 2008

  • Senior Math Course (Applications in Mathematical Reasoning, AMR) training took place at Green River’s lovely Kent Station Campus. The course pedagogy was introduced and practiced throughout the three day workshop. Participants learned about various topics unique to this course as well as some alternative ways to approach more traditional topics. The topics included Graph, Voting and Game Theory, Probability, Statistics, Scheduling, Bin Packing and Fair Division. Participants came from various school districts including Puyallup, Kent, Sumner, Federal Way, Battle Ground, Stanwood and Evergreen. The instructors included Robin Washam, Beth Shoemaker, Kim Franett-Fergus, Deann Anguiano. Laura Moore-Mueller and Kris Kissel. Two more workshops will be given during Fall 2008 to cover the remaining topics of the AMR course. Please register under Upcoming Events if you are interested.

August 25, 2008

  • Project TIME’s Third Annual Math Symposium had over 80 participants. Math instructors and administrators from several school districts and colleges ate a wonderful dinner supplied by Truffles Catering from Enumclaw, received information on two college scholarship opportunities for middle school students as well as college students, and learned about the newly accepted Washington State Math Standards. Dr. Susan Hudson-Hull from the University of Texas, Austin, Dana Center facilitated activities designed to help participants become familiar with the new Standards.
