This is an online course with support available on campus. Contact with the instructor is through voice and/or email, online discussion in Wamap, or by attending on-campus office hours. An initial orientation session is optional. Most lessons, assignments, and quizzes are completed online. Tests must be completed at the Testing and Assessment Center during scheduled exam dates. There are two tests.
Required Course Materials:
- textbook: Finite Mathematics and Applied Calculus, Wilson, Frank C.
- Wamap Account: click on the Register as a New Student link
- Graphing Calculator: TI-83 or 84 is recommended
Optional, yet highly recommended material:
- Student Solutions Manual with Lecture DVD's - available for purchase at: http://www.cengagebrain.com/micro/grccmath147
- Student Solutions Manual - at GRCC bookstore
I would recommend the first option, it costs a bit more (but only about $15 more) and it is worth it in terms of the additional help and instruction you will gain. The solutions manual will show you step-by-step how to get the correct answers to our homework problems. New for Spring 2011, I will provide a link to the DVD lectures in our secure class site area.
For more information, select from the listing at right or contact the instructor, Pam Reising.
Orientation: An optional onsite session is scheduled for the first week of the quarter, see the class schedule for date and time.
