ON CAMPUS REQUIREMENTS:
1. Although this is an online course - the Presentation Unit is still a part of the curriculum and you will be required to give an oral presentation to the class.  Please see the Presentation Unit for more information. 

2. All of your exams are to be taken at the testing center.  You may take your exams any time that you want - provided it is by each exam's due date. All due dates are on Saturday's except for the last one which is due by the final day of class of the quarter. The testing center is closed for regular testing on Wednesdays.  Please see the Submitting Work web page for more information and the Assignment page for specific due dates.

CLASS FEE:
There is a $30 class fee that is non-refundable.  This fee allows you to take a set of  video tapes home for the quarter.  If you don't want to pay the fee - then you may watch the videos in the library free of charge. You must return the tapes to the library at the end of the quarter. In order to pick up your tapes - you must bring your receipt from the Cashier's office showing your fee has been paid along with your student I.D. to the circulation desk in Holman Library.

COURSE GOALS:
To develop understanding, knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable students to enter and succeed in business office positions involving computer applications, secretarial and/or clerical activities.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

To maintain or improve previously learned business-related skills and knowledge

To provide the means to attain new skills and confidence in performing secretarial-managerial operations in the following areas:

Human Relations and Professionalism in business

Time Management

Stress Management

Presentations

Team Building

Transmittal Services (postal, electronic mail, telephone)

Written Communication

Administrative Support Services:

Assisting with travel, conferences, and meetings

Presenting statistical information

To study issues such as ethics, sexual harassment, and diversity. 

GRADING CRITERIA:

40% Assignments

40%  Tests* over the text book, videos, and lectures/narratives 

20% Final Project

* MAKE-UP TESTS ARE NOT GIVEN, BUT I WILL DROP YOUR LOWEST TEST SCORE (NOTE: your final report score cannot be dropped, nor can your presentation score)

All tests will be taken in the Testing Center at GRCC's main campus in Auburn.

ACADEMIC ETHICS:  Tests are to be completed without talking or collaborating with others.  Assignments are to be completed individually and without collaborating with others and without plagiarizing. Duplication of someone else’s work (be it another student, professional, web page, book, etc.) represents cheating behavior. Cheating behavior of any kind, including but not limited to: talking during tests, collaborating during tests, resubmission of old papers/assignments, papers or assignments used in other courses, and/or papers or documents written by somebody else will result in the student receiving a final course grade of 0.0

Any cheating behavior will be reported to the Dean. For further information, please consult the Student Code and Conduct section of the Green River Community College Student Handbook.

Final grade will be assigned in accordance with Green River Community College’s decimal grading scale:

To declare an intention to be graded as a pass/no credit, a student must file a petition with the registrar no later than the end of the 5th week of the quarter. For students who qualify, the registrar will convert the decimal grade submitted by the Instructor either to credit (P) or to no credit (NC).

Approximate letter grade equivalents: 3.6 to 4.0 = A; 2.7 to 3.5 = B; 1.7 to 2.6 = C; 0.7 to 1.6 = D; and Below 0.7 = F

Please check the college schedule for the last day to withdraw and not have classes posted to your permanent transcript. If you stop coming to class without officially withdrawing, your grade will be posted at a 0.0 (F).
