Student Testimonials

Shane Cooper

Shane Cooper came to Green River seeking new opportunities. He was tired of the construction business. While he loved the outdoors he wanted more of a challenge. "I am very excited about the Water/Wasterwater program. This is an interesting career field that combines the mechanical and biological." After Shane graduates he plans on working as an operator in a local city and/or county municipality.

Wade Iverson

Wade Iverson, a former computer network engineer, wanted to get out of the cubicle and find more job satisfaction. "This is a very important field. It is never going away (we will always need clean water). This industry can never be outsourced so there is job security too." Wade is completing three proficiency certificates and is already aware of several employment options in Tacoma, Yakima and McNeal Island.

Abel Guerrero

Abel Guerrero used to work in the water field and then quit to try something else. He is now back to get his Water certificate because he realized what a great career it is. "Green River has the only Water/Wastewater program in the state. The teachers are very thorough. You will learn all the basics here and it is explained very well." Abel's goal is to find a job with the city.

Noah Norfleet

Noah Norfleet is pursing a degree in Water/Wastewater. "The technology used in this program is similar to the skills I acquired when I worked on pumps in the military. This field is innovative, progressive and helps preserve the environment. There is a lot that can go wrong and we need well-trained operators to ensure our drinking water is safe. This class is really informative. I have learned a lot." Noah will be graduating from Green River winter quarter 2009.
