Getting Started

Prerequisites
Many of the water/wastewater courses have prerequisites. In most cases, prerequisites are introductory courses in English composition and algebra, taken within the last five years.  To determine prerequisites for a specific course, refer to the course description in the Green River Community College Catalog or individual course syllabus.

For those not familiar with word processing software, sending e-mail (including e-mail attachments) and/or accessing the Internet to find specific information, an introductory course in microcomputer fundamentals is strongly recommended.

Water/wastewater courses assume that you have the skills taught in these prerequisite topics and will not offer additional instruction in these areas. These prerequisites help to ensure that you will be successful in completing water/wastewater courses.

If you've taken a prerequisite course within the last five years, you may transfer the course to Green River.  If it's been more than five years since you took a prerequisite course, you may complete the "COMPASS" assessment on the Green River Community College campus Assessment & Testing Center to determine if your skills are current.  If you will be taking prerequisite courses at another college, please contact us for assistance in selecting appropriate courses.
