Green River Community College
Water Supply and Wastewater Technology Program
Taking Tests
Test Format
For online courses that are primarily reading
assignment and
written project based, summary tests may include matching, true/false, multiple choice,
simple sketching, and essay questions. Summary test questions will be based on the
assigned material and
will ask you to demonstrate your understanding by applying the material.
For online courses that use problems and calculations as the primary assignments, summary tests will ask you to work problems similar to those in your assignments. Formula and conversion sheets will be provided with each test.
Summary tests will be closed-book; you will not be allowed to bring any written material to the testing session.
Time Limit
Summary tests are intended to take approximately
one hour to complete; you may utilize up to two hours if you wish.
Taking Tests at the GRCC Testing
Center
If you live within sixty miles of the Green River Community College
Auburn campus, your tests will be available in the GRCC Testing Center, located in the
Rutkowski Learning Center, Room 173 (RLC 173).
The Assessment & Testing Center web page has information about testing procedures for Green River classes as well as quarterly hours. Please note that the Testing Center will be closed on holidays when the campus is closed. The Testing Center may be reached by telephone at (253) 833-9111, extension 2650.
Taking Tests Using a Proctor
If you live more than 60 miles from the Green River
Auburn, Washington campus, you
may arrange for a local proctor to administer your tests. Possible
resources for proctoring services include a local college, community college,
technical school or library. It is the student's responsibility to
arrange for a proctor prior to the
second week of class.
You may complete summary tests at any location that is mutually agreeable to you and your proctor. Proctors will be asked to ensure a quiet and relatively undisturbed location.
Once you have identified a proctor, please submit the following information to
the instructor
at madams@greenriver.edu:
Proctor's name
Proctor's job title
Complete mailing address (including zip code)
Telephone number
Fax number, if available
e-mail address, if available
Summary tests will be sent directly to the proctor. The proctor will be asked to return the summary tests as soon as they are completed.
When to Complete Tests
You may complete summary tests at any time prior to
midnight on the day the test is due. Be sure to check the course
schedule for due dates. If you are taking tests in the GRCC Testing
Center, be sure to allow sufficient time to complete the test before the center
closes.
What to Bring to a Testing Session
Bring a pen or pencil, calculator (if your course
includes math problems), and picture
identification (a valid Driver's License is preferred). The proctor will be
asked to submit information from your picture identification with each summary
test. Also, be sure you can confirm the complete course number, title and
topic(s) to covered on the test.
Test Verification
It's very important to make sure you select the appropriate test
from your test proctor. If you select the wrong test, you will not have
the opportunity to re-take the test (whether you complete it or not). Carefully review the cover sheet of each
test before signing for the test. Your signature on the test cover sheet indicates that
you've selected the appropriate test. Each
test cover sheet
will include the following statement and will require your signature:
ATTENTION STUDENT:
Please confirm that this is the appropriate test! Be sure to confirm the
course number/title as well as the test topics listed at the top of this cover
sheet. By signing below, you agree that the appropriate test has been
selected. Please note: If you sign for
the wrong test, you will not have the opportunity to re-take the test (whether
you complete it or not) at a later time.
ATTENTION PROCTOR:
Once the student has signed for this test, it is considered a "viable"
test (whether or not the student completes it) and it must be returned to the
instructor. If, after signing for the test, the student determines
the wrong test has been selected, you may re-issue the correct test.
Thank you for your cooperation.
What Will be Provided at a Testing
Session
The summary test and formula/conversion sheets, if
appropriate, will be provided.
