  1. Due Dates

    • ALE 7: Monday Jan 25

    • Prelab Assignment for Lab 4 (Vitamin C Analysis): Thursday Jan. 28

      • We will start lab 4 on Tuesday Jan 26 and complete it on Thursday Jan. 28.

      • Although the Prelab questions for lab 4 are due on Thursday, it is strongly suggested that you attempt and complete as much of it as possible before coming to class on Tuesday so that you will better understand Tuesday's prelab discussion of lab 4.

  2. See the announcements posted below on Jan. 14.

Posted Thursday January 14, 2010

  1. Campus is closed on Monday Jan. 18 (M.L.K. Day). Meet in lab on Tuesday Jan. 19 to finish lab 2. If you need extra time to finish the lab, then see me about open lab times.

  2. The 6th Annual Careers in Chemistry event sponsored by the American Chem Society is taking place 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday January 27th at the King County Environmental Labs. The event is free and a  number of cool stuff will be raffled off! Click here for a Flyer and here for the Agenda.

  3. Due Dates

  4. If you have not done so already, please print the Following Handouts. (Print them double-sided! Most printers on campus print double-sided by default)

  5. Exam #1 is just around the corner. It will be administered in GRCC Testing Center (bring picture ID) on the dates below(your choice). Give yourself about two hours to finish the exam--some of you may need less time, some of you more.

    • Thursday 1/28/10 (Testing Center Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) OR

    • Friday 1/29/10 (Testing Center Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) OR

    • Saturday 1/30/10 (Testing Center Hours: 8 a.m. to noon)

Take a peak at the Study Guide and the practice exam. NOTE:  The practice exam is intended to give you an idea of the kind of questions to expect. The actual exam given WILL differ from this one. For example, concentrate on understanding and applying the concepts discovered by the famous physicists/chemists mentioned on the practice exam, rather than memorizing the individuals responsible for discovering each concept/principle.

    • Turn in Portfolio #1 on Monday 2/03/10. See the Chem 162 syllabus or click here for the portfolio policy.

      • Click here for the Portfolio #1 Contents Sheet.

      • Be sure to make corrections to all questions on ALE's 1-7 before turning in your portfolio and before taking exam #1! Place a "check" next to all correct answers on each  ALE and make corrections as needed, either on separate paper attached to each ALE, or clearly highlighted in another color of pen or pencil directly on each ALE---do not copy answers from the answer key: this is plagiarism, moreover, no learning will occur. Get help with those questions you don't understand. Sources of help include:
